Wow, #30paintingsin30days

When I started out this morning the wind wasn't an issue, during the brief studio visit to get my box, which wasn't in the car , neither my brushes, well the box made it the brushes stayed all nicely packed on my easel .
I get to my location, hmmm the wind nearly blew me over.
No, nope, I'm going to do this.
Pulled everything out , pit stop , say hello to the resorption its, always a good idea to let others see you.
Then off to meet my bird friend.
So so windy, no bird fishing.
Hmmm
Looked around hmmm getting board with the spot.
No, nope, doing this.
Decide a different angel will be the answer.
Wind behind me, my gorilla box can withstand it.
Get everything ready.... NO Brushes.
Lucky I still had my palette knife .
2 to be exact.
At that point I was ready to use paper towels Turp and my fingers.
Very challenging for day 30.
I proved to my self I can , and do not have to give in to that little voice that says, hey it's warmer in the car, no wind...what ever excuse that it gives me.
As long as it's not harmful to my health, I'm in.
I didn't paint everyday, I had some issues with schedule s.
Working on using my in between time more effectively , like I said before as long as it doesn't harm my health.
I want to live a long healthy life, I have to. Have to see how my work changes.

Friday Painting

Today I did three paintings in different locations at different times for the 30, 30 challenge.
Im working at the gallery this weekend, it will be crazy busy taking down shows and new ones coming in.
So... Im not sure if I will have time to get out in the early mroning or after work.

What a great day, the weather was almost perfect, a bit windy, but my Garilla box is built for this midwestern wind. As far as me, I had to tie my hat down, LOL, I still have it on, not sure how Im going to get the knot out.

I hope you enjoy the paintings, I had a wonderful day , always a bonus when Blue Herons are around fishing.

In between Storms

After much driving in the storms, when i did get a chance to watch the clouds I decided to paint , car, the windows fog, and I drive a Smart.
I stopped at the headwaters, hmmm only a tiny shelter.
Got caught there once in a storm.
I drove towards home the, we're getting more and more  interesting, pulled into my go to place Broodale, opened everything up setup outside the car and painted until thunder and wind started to pick up.
So hard to tell when it's going to just start.
With the clouds changing direction I thought it would be in my best interest to pack up.
Clouds are En Plein Air and part of the ground, I finished in the studio pronto with a picture on my IPhone.

Notan practice

Always a crowd when I paint

Day 4 of 30paintingsin30days

Taking time , enjoying some quick painting

Painting in the outdoors is the best!
I'm so happy that a fellow painter at the Palette and chisel said at break," hey you should Plein Air paint.
I rolled my eyes, who wants to paint outside, I'm there to enjoy the outdoors not paint.
Well , hmmm I thought about when a friend suggested we take a still life class .
How invigorating that was.
I truly understud what my friend was taking about when she compared skin to flowers .
Wow!
I have been hooked , not one to follow the crowd , but this, this painting outside with nature, living creatures, living earth.
I have a whole new respect.
Man I thought I enjoyed the outdoors before.
Ha! Wow!
As far as helping my studio work, I'm pretty sure I see and feel things differently.
I compare it much to drawing from life.
You gain a much broader understanding of light value form. And color. I can't stress enough how much one can learn from varying your art studies
My weekly studio practice is life drawing everyday and painting in some form with weekly if not more Plein Air.
I'm still carrying my studio with me outdoors, Lol , I'm slowly learning to limit my palette.
Today I went back to using the Lein Air view finder just to see if I was seeing correctly.
In doing so I'm thinking I might do a few Notans this weekend.
Have a fabulous weekend, be safe
