Friday the 17th of October

I had hoped to blog once a week.......
I would love to say that I have been busy in my studio.
Life gets in the way sometimes and spins in ways that we cannot control.
But I have been busy in the studio with techniques that I am learning in my painting class
at the Palette and Chisel in Chicago. My work will definitely change.......
Yes it is a long commute for me...but I have a partner in crime, we drive together and the time goes by fast, we split the gas and talk about art and our lives.

When the weather gets bad......Union Pacific here we come.

I included some pictures from our E exhibit at The Old Court House Art Center in Woodstock, IL

Thanks for checking in with me...keep coming back and see the progress.

May you be Safe, Happy and Healthy
Peace

Hi everyone.

I posted a lot of unfinished work, thought you might like to see.

I might not be putting finished work up do to the fact it might be stolen of become the
property of Google........my beloved Google....I cant believe you would take our work.

I was very disappointed to read that people actually steal artist work....and make money with stolen work.......

I will have to do more research into this.
Until then

Have a great week.......be safe and enjoy where you are and what you are doing.
Enjoy life

Peace

After a long break from posting on my own blog I'm back to say hello to everyone.
Hope you all had a great summer, which in my opinion went to fast.

I also maintain the Old Court House Figurative League's blog at
figleague.blogspot.com

Camera issues have prevented me from adding to my blog
The camera that I am currently using is very old by today's standards and has a few issues, that's the excuse I'm using for not taking pictures of my current work.
Which I have started to do now, I will have more soon
So hang in with me until I manage to get a new one. lol might be awhile.

With the economy spiraling and elections around the corner it won't be any time soon.

I have committed myself to painting at a local farmers market, for the month of September just to gain experience painting in the outdoors. It really pushed and pulled at me.
I don't do flowers or architecture. But I needed to.
So come back in a few days and check out my really immature paintings of the market.

Have a great week, be safe and have fun at what ever it is you do.

Peace

The past few weeks have just flown by.
With Real People 2008. A National Juried show .....
I am co-chair of....... getting my studio finished, moving in and going
through all my acquired stuff.......did I say stuff.... lots of stuff.......
along with family obligations and work obligations.......
A staff of people is required to keep my life going.
My mother always said; Mary you ran everywhere........ I believe I caught myself mom. :)

I do have to say I had a great Sunday visiting with all of you, my family.
Thank you to David for bring this back to life.
And Carl.
Mary for rescuing all the recycle and taking it to its proper destination.

Hope we will do it again, maybe next time in a resort.......... LOL
I was beat, and still recovering this morning.

I feel like I didn't have enough time to re-equate my self with everyone.
A nice slow pace two day weekend with games, swimming and an evening of sharing.
Anyone up for it. Or am I showing my age.......... pining for our Lake Geneva cottage.

It was fun.....good food, good weather and good company.
Good soft ball...........new baby.........welcome Megan.
The Greatest family.
I hope everyone will join us next year.

Watercolor was the media of choice this past Wednesday.
Cleaning out my studio I found two pads of watercolor paper. Being a hot July I thoroughly enjoyed the thought of working with cool water and blue paint.
It has been a few years, looking at the work in the book.

Hope you are enjoying the blog.
Have a great week, take time to savor life.

Thank You to Christine K for taking pictures of my work this week.
Peace

The First week in July
A short week for me, but I did get a chance to read.
I have to laugh, I am such a miss fit at times.
I can't seem to find that balance.
I think it is time to stop looking for that balance, not worry about the balance.
It will come in time.
The next few weeks will be lean as far as work to post. We have a deadline for Real People 2008 and I'm co-chair lol, the deadline is this week I'm organizing all the material for the judges. Plus lots of other details.
I have to tape, mud my studio walls put a base coat of paint on....almost finished...I guess we are never really finished I should say this is as far as I go for a while, so I can start to work.
I'm interested in how this will change my work.

Have a good week

Peace

Hi,
My load page was buried on my computer. :)
LOL
So here is this weeks Paintings from the week of 22nd of June
My painting from Photograph is coming along. I still have trouble with skin, I would think with all the life drawing that I have been doing this would not be a problem. I should be able to create something.
To cut my self some slack I have more experince with adults, second it's difficult to paint or draw a family member.
Knowing this I did start with a sketch.
Peace
Have a good week

Thursday, June 26, 2008

Hi Thanks for visiting my blog and to my friends in Spain.
I took Monday off to celebrate Terry's birthday with him
I will show a painting that I had done a few weeks ago and forgot to post.
On Wednesday nights I'm in charge of opening and getting the drawing group going, also we are in the middle of a big fundraiser for our group. Real People 2008 Celebrating Faces and Figures Thru the Arts is a national juried show, so lots needs to be done. I suspect that the next few weeks will be hectic. I managed to do one painting.
Today I worked on a painting from a photo, I have trouble with this, but I need to learn to do it.
Nothing like painting from life............
I will post them Friday, since all my photos this evening turned out too dark. Not enough light.
I have been working on a personal film for many years and I think I have an idea for the ending.
Yea...but it has to wait until fall, by then I should be moved in to my new studio space.
Peace

Sunday, June 22, 2008

This was the week of the 15th of June
Hope you enjoy, I sure did. Very busy but also prolific.
I'm struggling with style, I have been told to just paint even the gestures to gain a style.

Only if I could make the brush sing like the pastels and charcoal in my gestures.
My goal for how ever long it takes.

Have a good week.
Peace
