Finished in the studio. Once again had a great start with good bones to work with . Looking forward to working up my speed. Gaining confidence in the field and in my painting. I don't have enough words to describe the feeling working outdoors. It's exhausting . I'm hot , cold, wet, sweating , sun burn, feet hurt, I carry to much with me and sometimes the linguistics of finding a perfect spot.. Along with a many failed wiped out painting. I'm in love! Nature is spectacular, people are friendly curious about what your doing. Amazing, I hope I never lose this enthusiasm.

I love this location, I was able to get a wonderful start , then in the studio I didn't have a lot of work to finish it.

When enthusiasm doesn't meet your expectations

When at the School of the Art institute my instructor Marion told us " You will make more bad drawings and or paintings than good". As I prepare for a much anticipated morning of Plein Air painting. With each location a new expectation and enthusiasm emerges for the painting that will capture not only the light but the passion.

Study

In oil on canvas paper. Almost finished with one package. I liked it for its portability , it's not linen by any stretch of the imagination. Good for practice. A bit of concern when I have one I like. Do I make the price lower? Oh pricing !

The Hallows

Every time I go out to paint, I'm amazed at the wildlife the landscape and even more humbled. You think painting figures is difficult . Being outside with distractions the weather the ever changing light. The wildlife , including bugs, adds to the challenge of painting. Organization of thought and supplies. Wow! I'm hooked, never thought I would be painting landscapes. Determination, dedication, consistency and education.

Going to spend my summer ......

Making panels for Plein Air

Image
I bought a roll of Clausen 66 linen a sheet of oak plywood and yes glue to make my own boards for painting. I haven't used the 66 yet, should be good for Plein Air, landscape etc. Not making the boards larger than 11x14 and as small 6x6 do to the possibility of warping. I had 16x20 untempered board warp even with gesso on back and sides. Not fun.

Coral Woods update

Finished the painting surprisingly fast. Making color notations and the two photographs I took made it work. I may work on the figure more,
