Illinois State Beach Plein Air Challenge #3

Illinois State Breach Plein Air Challenge #2

Illinois State Park Plein Air fast sketch # 1

Illinois State Beach

I made it over to the beach . I haven't been to this beach in years.
I have decided that I'm going to do 100 6x8 oil sketches of the park .
It felt so good to be back to the lake front.
I love water. Especially big body's of water.
A big challenge for a figurative painter.
I chose to use a home made Plein air box and sit in the sand due to the wind gust.
It worked fairly well, really need to put hinges on it.
The light this morning was wonderful , chose to go when it was windy in the hope of high waves.
The colors the deep blues , greens turquoise with the brownish water from the churning. The white from the crash, and from the sun, with the dark hanging clouds at the horizon with a little yellow ish light sneaking a peak under them with white fluff on top.
I'm learning to work fast and expressive on my own. Capturing the mood the movements. That's the goal. The mood of the Lake and its playfulness with the rest of nature.
Should be interesting to see how this progresses , at least from my point if view .
All paintings will be quick sketch.
The following 3 , timed 15 to 30 min.each
