First day back to painting in my studio. Only about an hour, at first it felt like I forgot how to paint the panic set in ....really..... LOL . I know, but hey it was only 45 min. I'll see what I can do in the a.m. to fix it. I have set a couple of new challenges for myself. One -- Paint before work in the morning. I really like the idea of painting everyday on a small canvas, one object and with my fall schedule , I have two choices -- early morning or evening after teaching, after which I'm usually spent, I'm open to either. Two -- Learn more about plein -air painting. Wish me luck with the early morning rising.......not going to be pretty. I have three more weeks to build up to the early morning call, I think of it as training. Best to you

Happy to have new followers, Welcome. I am presently recovering from a hysterectomy, had high expectations for a rapid recovery. Not so. Missed the open for Real People 09 a National Juried show, for which I have been co-chairman and chairman for the past two years -- this has been both exciting and exhausting. Time to pass the baton. While resting, I've had time to catch up on much needed rest along with the opportunity to enjoy art history, blogs, facebook, twitter, drawing (ha ha) and attempted to give myself a manicure. Signed up for a city scape workshop with Scott Tallman Powers, looking forward to seeing Scott again and painting in Chicago with my friend Nanette. All the while following Doctor's Orders. I hope to be in my studio this weekend with my husband, directing him with the changes that I have in my brain. (Always a danger). Terry is a good sport. (hubby) And next week to paint. The time has been perfect for reflection, on my work and my life. Conclusions bein...

A cold June evening, rained on and off most of the day. Chilled to the bones and solving that with some hot tea and reading blogs. Went out with my daughter and friends this afternoon in celebration of Harvard Milk Days. I really need to get out more, I feel invigorated. But it is late and need to keep my promise not to work in the evenings unless under a deadline. I have accepted a challenge to create a 2-4 min animation....I came up with an idea, researched it and am now ready to design characters and dialogue, music being rewritten. I caught the bug and was up to the wee hours in the morning which took a toll on my body. Not willing to do that again. Hence not working late rule. In The Old Curt House Arts Center Garden show, the bottle, pears, Conch shell, and yellow tulips are it the show. running now thru July. Will post pictures soon. Wishing you Peace, Health, and Happiness mb

"Full lasting is the song, though he, the singer, passes." (George Meredith) "Esoterica: It's important for living artists to be constantly weeding. Destroying substandard work is not only good for the heirs, it's good for the artist: nothing worse than mediocrity in sight. Burning, while illegal in some jurisdictions, is best. I do it quietly on cold, sentimental nights as a ceremony of sacrifice in the fireplace. Further, a quick note in the will, "Destroy all unsigned art," saves everybody a lot of trouble and anguish. Remember, it's always nicer to enjoy a few brilliant friends than to endure a crowd of dullards." Robert Glenn A question was posed to Robert about Grandfathers art work after he passed. As I age I ponder this question my self, famous or not, one should have written instructions for their art work as to how it will be handled upon death. After all the time, education, money love and tears, I wish not to be on the curb in a garage ...

A beautiful night, the temperature hit the mid 80s and Sunny Opened all the windows and was inspired to clean yes, clean......not in my vocabulary recently. Have a surprise guest for the weekend, my nephew. It has been good visiting with him. And my daughter is joining us for part of the weekend. I started this blog with intentions of having my family and friends see what I work on and how, thought that blogging would help my work. I still love my animation, would like to try sculpture because I believe that it will be helpful to me in other aspects of my work. I have been looking at blogs from other artists and thinking maybe I should be more discriminating about what I put on my blog. Enjoy my work MaryBeth J Bellon or Mary Beth Bellon, or Marybeth Bellon by which I'm listed in IMDb for the Tiny Toons Christmas special. I also worked on Tazmania, Animaniacs and McGee and Me, I dont recall why some of us did not receive credit, but my pencil line is among them. Be Safe, Happy a...

I have been working in charcoal for the past month at open draw with the intention of sharpening my skills. I will then compare them to some older drawing to see if any progress has been made, and what areas I may want to concentrate on. Almost finished with my Conch shell painting. And have a bunch of paintings backed up... fewww ! Also have been working on a painting chart, seems for ever. It has grown to 5 feet...think I have to many paints! lol , this chart will help me narrow down now my paint selection to help save money and time. Thank You for visiting Have a wonderful rest of your day or night may you be safe, healthy and Peaceful Peace and Love mb

Hi Thanks for visiting I have some new work and will be adding it soon. I just took down a show and 3 of the 6 frames on my paintings were damaged. OK...but one of them had water damage on it. I can not say how it happened, neither can the Gallery. They are looking into the matter this week, (This DID NOT Happen at the Old Court House Art Gallery.) It was one of my nudes....my guess is that someone removed it and we know someone did because it was hanging by the frame not the wire. It had a short wire on it so it was not easy to take off the hanging system. Needless to say I feel violated. And it amazes me that this person would feel that it was OK to touch work in a show -- not only touch it but remove it for some purpose and cause damage to it. I hope that this is not the case. So the energy level is a little low tonight and it is freaky cold, as Jason says, outside. Stay Warm Peace
